Most of the time, people don’t listen until it’s too late. In this case, no human died but a defenseless pet dog perished when it was buried in the rubble.

“At least 40 families were evacuated after a four-storey apartment on NIA Road, Barangay Pinyahan in Quezon City collapsed on Friday, February 6,” reports Johnson Manabat on ABS-CBNnews.com.

The report noted: “According to residents, they noticed that some parts of the building were starting to collapse Thursday night, February 5. Then, by Friday afternoon, half of the roof of the old building had collapsed, after the walls and the facade of the building gave way.”

According to Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista, he had already told the barangay captain to clear the collapsed part of the building. Moreover, he said he had warned residents not to return to the old building.

Here’s where it gets more disturbing.

The report revealed that “aside from not having a building permit, it was also discovered that the building was constructed using substandard materials.” The building was composed of 36 small rooms.
