Because it’s Valentine’s week…welcome to Coconuts Manila’s sex issue!

It’s Valentines Day. Where do you go after that candlelit dinner? Metro Manila doesn’t fall short on accommodations, that’s for sure, but there are rooms that will turn you on faster than others. Some are built with parties in mind, but duh. Parties of two are certainly welcome.

For Anastasia Steele wanna-be’s

50 Shades of Grey room
Victoria Court, 1 Victoria Drive, Canley Road, Pasig; +63 2 6712317
One of the newer rooms that VC is offering, the 50 Shades of Grey room is actually inspired by the best-selling kinky novel of the same name. The 60 square meter room is divided into two: the white anteroom where a pole stands in the middle of a fake white grand piano, and of course, the red room of pain, complete with the rotating strap contraption for a dose of S&M. “It’s fake, but based on the number of missing nuts and bolts, I guess people have tried to get on here,” laughs Omar Palero, Victoria Court’s head architect-turned-Marketing Manager.
Cough out: PHP8,025 for a 24-hour overnight couple stay. It’s a suite that can accommodate up to 35 people so, it’s mighty huge!

For power-hungry, feeling-royal couples

The Throne

The Throne room
Victoria Court, 2 Cuneta Street, Pasay; +63 2 8514619
Taking inspiration from the Game of Thrones, feel free to role-play in The Throne room, at the Cuneta location of Victoria Court. It’s made to look like you were in a dungeon, huge gray bricks, steel chandeliers and all, but the best part is, of course, the throne. It sits right above the bed for, you know, easier play access. Note: This is actually the throne that Dennis and Tessa Prieto-Valdez used for their 20th wedding anniversary party last year.
Cough out: PHP4,995 for an overnight couple’s stay, with free breakfast.

For 21st century robotic sex

Steve Jobs room
Icon Hotel, 1010 Macapagal Ave cor Pacific Avenue, Don Galo, Manila bay, Manila; +63 2 5123389
Admittedly, this is a rather peculiar — okay, very strange — theme for a room. But, there are iPhone fanatics and those who look up to Steve Jobs, so let us not to shit on their trip. All of Icon hotel’s rooms are themed and the Steve Jobs one is considered a suite. Headboard panels feature an iPhone screen. Switch the central light off and a blue light comes on. What the third single bed is for, we don’t really know.
Cough out:PHP1,940 for 12 hours during the weekend but if you have 24 hours to spare, PHP2,595 during the weekends, too.

For old-school lovers

Azalea room, Hotel Sogo

Azalea room
Hotel Sogo, EDSA cor F.B. Harrison Street, Pasay; +63 2 8547646
If you’ve always wanted to try doing the deed outdoors, but have yet to cough up enough courage, maybe you wanna practice at Hotel Sogo’s Azalea room? The room is one of the few themed accommodations in Metro Manila not inspired by a movie. Instead, it mimics a manicured park, complete with a bridge, a swing set, and green lighting on the floor for the grassy effect. Barely a year old, the 40 square meter room is already one of the favorites of Hotel Sogo’s CEO. “It’s actually very relaxing,” Gus Corpus smiles.
Cough out: The rates vary, depending on spontaneous promos but it’s safe to say it starts at PHP2,500 for an overnight stay with breakfast.

For zen-like sex

Tatami room Hotel Sogo

Tatami room
Hotel Sogo, Dona Juana Subdivision, Marcos Hi-Way, Santolan, Pasig; +63 2 6953459
One of Hotel Sogo’s best sellers, the Tatami Room makes any guest feel like they’re in the land of the rising sun. It follows the minimal zen aesthetic, with a simple Japanese shoji screen dividing the anteroom from the bedroom, making the Tatami Room feel larger than its 40 square meters. Tip: Hotel Sogo actually encourages the public to come use the Tatami room for other purposes besides lovemaking. Quite relaxing and meditative, it’s also perfect for a staycation or a study group.
Cough out: Starts at PHP2,500 for an overnight couples’ stay with breakfast.

For Thor fanatics

Asgard room
Hotel Victoria de Malate, 2184 Madre Ignacia Street, Malate Manila; +63 2 5211084
VC’s Asgard room is quite a sensual experience like no other. Decked in blinding gold, lightning sound effects actually accompany the visual trip of the room. As in, occasional flashes of lightning appear on a portion of a wall. It comes with a hammer too, because what is Asgard without a reference to Thor, right? The Jacuzzi tub and a raised circular bed complete the golden experience.
Cough out: PHP6,795 for 12 hours, inclusive of breakfast. Or you can go all out and book it for 24 hours at PHP7,995.

For sailor sex

Pirates room
Hotel Sogo, 2/F Bonifacio Market, EDSA, Monumento, Caloocan City; +63 2 3677646
Ah, one of the longest standing themed rooms of Hotel Sogo, the 10-year-old Pirates room is inspired by Pirates of the Carribean. Don’t worry, the hotel actually renovates every year so the room remains safe and clean. A pirate flag hangs above the bed, it has wooden walls and flooring to mimic a ship’s cabin, and for added effect, a ship’s wheel is located somewhere in the room.
Cough out: An overnight stay starts at PHP2,500 and comes with breakfast for two.
