This is a let-down for those who were expecting it to be an extra day off work.

“In accordance with Proclamation 831 signed by President Noynoy Aquino, the 29th anniversary of the EDSA I People Power revolution on February 25 has been declared by Malacañang as a special holiday for schools nationwide,” reports Nestor Corrales on Inquirer.net.

The report emphasized Feb 25 is “a special holiday for schools only” and that “government and privately-run offices, meanwhile, will be in their normal operations.”

The report noted: “The EDSA People Power Revolution in 1986 ended the regime of then President Ferdinand Marcos, who served the country for nearly 21 years, and catapulted Corazon Aquino to power as the new Philippine president.”
