He’s a tough one.

“The 91-year-old Senator Juan Ponce Enrile — who has been detained at the Philippine National Police (PNP) General Hospital for plunder and graft charges over the pork barrel scam — was rushed to the Makati Medical Center early Thursday, February 26, because of pneumonia,” reports ABS-CBNnews.com.

According to Enrile’s son, former Congressman Jack Enrile, the senator had been “suffering high fever” and had even “coughed blood” prior to being transferred to the Makati hospital.

In an interview with ANC on Fri, Feb 27, Jack talked about his father’s condition. “He’s fine, he’s getting better. His fever is gone for today. He’s under massive intravenous antibiotics, but that’s to be expected given the level of infection of his pneumonia. He’s being monitored and right now wala siyang fever, medyo mataas ang kanyang appetite. That’s a good indication that he’s getting better.”

Jack added that the senator is expected to stay in Makati Medical Center “for as long as the pneumonia is there.”

He said, “Once the pneumonia is gone and everything is under control, I’m sure the Philippine National Police will bring him back to his former place of detention.”
