Lies can be lethal.

“Earlier this week in Pasay City, 33-year-old room boy named Pacifico Montesa II was allegedly shot dead by Rodel dela Cruz, 23, a member of the Sigue-Sigue Sputnik Gang who had just been released from jail,” reports Jean Fernando in Tempo.

According to the police, Montesa, who was a stay-in employee at Harrison Lodge on F.B. Harrison St., sustained one bullet wound in the nape and died instantly.

The report noted: “Witnesses said Dela Cruz was having a drinking session with his three friends when one of them told the suspect that he saw his four-year-old son crying because Montesa hit him at the back of his head.”

Thus, Dela Cruz went to the Harrison Lodge to confront Montesa. He saw the latter having a coffee break. Dela Cruz then drew his gun and shot the victim.

Here’s the clincher: “Police later found out that the victim had an unnecessary death because the story given to Dela Cruz by his drinking buddy was not true.”
