We hope they will be able to get home safely.

“According to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), efforts to repatriate some 4,000 Filipinos still in war-torn Libya have become more dangerous and difficult, as no foreign air carrier is now flying into that country,” reports in Manila Bulletin.

The report noted: “In a statement issued earlier this week, the DFA reported that the security situation in Libya has rapidly deteriorated in the past few weeks due to the ongoing civil strife and the recent air strikes conducted by other countries against armed groups.”

Thus, as the report indicated, “the Philippine government appealed to the remaining Filipinos to register for repatriation and return to their families in the Philippines while they can. The families here were also urged by the DFA to encourage their loved ones in Libya to return home to safety.”

Filipinos in Libya are advised to contact the embassy team in Tripoli to avail of the next repatriation operation scheduled Mar 8.
