Are drug dealers now using malls as their pick-up points?

“Around 400 grams of methamphetamine hydrochloride, also known as shabu, was recovered at the restroom of a KFC outlet at the SM Mall of Asia at around 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 21,” reports Jeffrey C. Tiangco on Journal Online.

The report noted: “Senior Supt. Sidney Hernia, officer-in-charge (OIC) of the Pasay City police, said they recovered the illegal drug after they received a phone call from Ramon D. Perez, security manager of Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) Corp., located at the SM Mall of Asia Hypermarket Building, Sunset Avenue, Pasay City.”

According to Perez, they found the shabu inside a Ziplock bag inside the rest room of the fast-food chain. A test conducted on the substance confirmed that it was, indeed, shabu.

Probers are still reviewing the CCTV camera outside the restroom to establish the identities of the suspects, who possibly forgot, abandoned or dumped the said illegal drug after using the comfort room.
