What went down during the first Cocinas Viajeras food event

Cocina Viajeras is a three-weekend affair that kicked off last weekend at Bonifacio Global City.

The idea behind this event, which is just one of the many offerings of Ayala Malls’ Gastronomy Festival in anticipation of Madrid Fusion Manila, is to have chefs go around Metro Manila in those cute Piaggio food trucks serving special and playful dishes.

Truth be told we cannot wait for the next two weekends already — April 17-18 at Glorietta and April 24-25 at Alabang Town Center— when the likes of Chef Sau del Rosario, Margarita Fores, and Myrna Sagismundo, and Chele Gonzalez will be attending.

These are the 5 best things we ate at Cocina Viajres last weekend:

1. These lovely paella balls from New York private Chef Noel dela Rama’s arsenal of Spanish food. Representing the Center for Culinary Arts, dela Rama also served fideua, croquetas, and callos.

2. This goodlooking burger from Wolf & Fox, which had a varied menu that weekend. Other restaurants served comfort dishes similar to Wolf & Fox: Nolita had an array of pizzas, Beso had its angus burger, while Valor had churros con chocolate and waffles.

3. Chicken inasal burrito and pork belly baguette from the Sarsa crew. Chef JP Anglo himself prepared those yummy offerings!

4. Peking Duck soft tacos from chef couple Rob and Sunshine Pengson.

5. Mad Mark’s homemade ice cream, poke salad and their own rootbeer, all of which were smart food items to serve on a hot summer day.

The Cocinas Viajeras will be in Glorietta from April 17-8 and Alabang Town Center from April 24-25. Chefs Gaita Fores, Myrna Segismundo, Sau del Rosario and Chele Gonzalez will be in attendance then.
