Which of his wishes will come true?
“During the party for his 78th birthday on Sunday, April 19, Manila Mayor Joseph E. Estrada revealed his three wishes,” reports Jenny F. Manongdo in Tempo.
Perhaps, Estrada’s most surprising wish is “his wish that former President now Pampanga Rep. Gloria M. Arroyo — who is currently detained at the Veterans Memorial Medical Center (VMMC) in Quezon City for plunder charges — be placed under house arrest because of her condition.”
Estrada explained, “Because of her sickly condition, I am wishing for a house arrest for PGMA. Wala naman na siyang flight risk and we should be compassionate because she is a woman.”
The report recalled: “Arroyo assumed the presidency on 2001 following Estrada’s ouster and she pardoned him after he was convicted of plunder charges in 2007. Estrada was also detained in the same hospital and in the room where Arroyo is staying. In December 2013, Estrada visited Arroyo in the hospital, talking about politics and trading jokes.”
Estrada’s two other wishes are for peace in Mindanao and the restoration of the glory days of Manila.
