“Indonesian president Jokowi Widodo called for a meeting with his officials on Tuesday afternoon, April 28, to discuss the case of Mary Jane Veloso after the person who allegedly tricked her into carrying drugs into Indonesia, Maria Kristina Sergio (who also goes by the name Christine Pasadilla), surrendered to Philippine authorities,” reports GMA News Online.

The report noted: “In a live interview over radio dzBB, Mary Jane’s sister Marites said Widodo called for the meeting at 2:30 p.m. after reports that her alleged recruiter, whom Mary Jane had referred to as ‘Christine’ in her testimonies, has surrendered to the Nueva Ecija Police Provincial Office.”

The report indicated that “Foreign Affairs spokesman Charles Jose made the statement in a press briefing even as Aquino made a last-ditch effort to save Veloso by proposing to the Indonesian government that she be turned into a witness to identify illegal drug syndicates.”
