A video of a dog being beaten with a stick in Paco, Manila has gone viral.

“In the video, a man holding a stick is seen whacking a dog that is chained in front of a house,” reports ABS-CBNnews.com.

According to Barangay 819 secretary Michelle Maulas, the incident was immediately reported to their office. The person who uploaded the video claimed the dog was slaughtered but this has yet to be confirmed.

Meanwhile, the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) advised the public to report these kinds of cases through a written affidavit.

PAWS executive director Ana Cabrera pointed out, “That really goes against the Animal Welfare Act. It’s punishable with six months up to two years imprisonment. If it’s proven that the dog was killed then there’s a fine of up to PHP100,000.”
