Carinderia Crawl E36: Tapsi Ni Vivian At Bulaluhan (Marikina)

We had to find out the truth!

We heard a rumor that Marikina is turning into a destination for food lovers living in Metro Manila. We kind of get it: the city is clean and compact, its people are friendly, honest and disciplined, and it reminds us of how Manila used to be.

Our first stop (we plan to keep visiting Marikina so if you want to nominate your favorite carinderia to this video series, message us on Facebook) is at Tapsi Ni Vivian At Bulaluhan in Bgy San Roque, which serves the whole gamut of Filipino comfort food, from ‘silog’ plates to adobo, sinigang and caldereta.

The restaurant is near Marcos Highway and very accessible by public transportation. It is huge and we were happy with the quick and friendly service. It is also clean and well ventilated.

On this episode of Carinderia Crawl, we order the signature tapsilog (PHP90) and bulalo (PHP320).

We loved the tapsilog because the tapa because it was neither oily or dry, and the sweetness of the tapa complemented the saltiness of the fried egg.

Around three people can share the bulalo, and we were excited to see that it came with a big-size bone with the marrow still intact. The meat itself was tender and easy to cut, having been boiled for hours.

See you again soon, Marikina!
