MANILA, Philippines – Alaska carved out a 92-86 victory over Star, extending the Hotshots’ losing streak to four games in the PBA Governors’ Cup on Wednesday.

The Aces leaned on Romeo Travis who came up with another sterling game with 27 points on top of 14 rebounds for Alaska’s fourth win in five games.

“I was worried and petrified before the game knowing they (the Hotshots) play their best when their back is against the wall. I’m happy to come out with the win,” said Alaska coach Alex Compton in the PBA website.

The Aces needed to mount a huge rally in the fourth quarter to turn back the Hotshots.

It is Alaska’s first win over Star.

Vic Manuel had 10 points while Cyrus Baguio added 9 markers.

Marqus Blakely had 22 points for Purefoods, which also got 17 and 9 from Mark Barroca and James Yap.

The loss sent the Hotshots into a free fall with a record of 1-4. It tied their longest losing streak under coach Tim Cone.

Star came within 79-83 when Yap and Blakely strung together 7 straight points.

But Rome dela Rosa, Chris Banchero, and Eric Menk pushed the Aces ahead, 88-81.
