As details and alleged photos of the Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) 35th anniversary party last Jul 10 have spread online, LRTA administrator Honorito Chaneco has come out to deny allegations that the agency had a lavish gathering at the Manila Grand Opera Hotel on Sta. Cruz, Manila.

Chaneco was quoted as saying, “It’s not true that it’s lavish. We just held it in a small hotel. It just looked lavish because of the costume.”

“Chaneco added that it has been a tradition in LRTA to hold a costume party whenever the occasion permits. He also denied that LRTA employees who were not in costume during the 35th anniversary celebration were not allowed to enter the venue,” reports Dennis Carcamo on Philstar.com.

Chaneco explained that the memorandum (see below, click for larger image) he issued regarding the “strict” compliance of all employees to come in 1920s-inspire attires was just to make sure that some of them would be in costume.
