Things are not doing so well over at Iglesia Ni Cristo.

A video uploaded on YouTube late Tuesday night shows Felix Nathaniel “Angel” Manalo, younger brother of the church’s executive minister, Eduardo Manalo, calling on INC congregants for help, claiming that “their” lives are in danger.

He was referring to himself and his mother, Cristina “Tenny”, the widow of INC’s former executive minister Eraño “Erdy” Manalo.

In the voice recording played in the YouTube video, Tenny also claims that some of the church’s ministers had been kidnapped.

A few hours after the video went viral, Angel and his mother Tenny were expelled from the church, it was announced by INC general evangelist Bienvenido Santiago.

According to Santiago, there is no truth to the claims of Tenny and Angel and that they are just trying to gain sympathy from the church’s members so they could be in power.

Currently, INC is headed by Eduardo, the older brother of Angel. Founded in 1914 by Felix Manalo (who died in 1963), it is now being led by his grandson who assumed the position in 2009.

While there is no record of how big the church membership is, a church service in 2014 was reported to have set a world record for having two million attendees.

Meanwhile, the Philippine Daily Inquirer quotes a former INC member saying that 10 ministers were under house arrest inside an INC building “to stop the ministers from blowing the lid off the alleged corruption.”

Speaking at a press conference, Isaias  Samson Jr., the former editor of INC’s official publication confirmed that the missing ministers were in fact abducted. But even more shocking, he claims that the military and the police were involved in the matter.
