5 ways to outlast alcohol according to the dons of tequila

On Friday, Simply Thai’s lady bartender Angelica Castro bested 9 other mixologists at the finals of the Dons of Tequila contest at URBN Bar and Kitchen at Bonifacio Global City.

She will represent the country and go up against 17 other nations in Jose Cuervo’s global search for the next Tequila Hero.

Her winning drink? A lychee-infused margarita that’s as sweet and sour and as it is strong.

The Dons of Tequila contest actually started in March 2015, when Cuervo had bartenders submit their original mixes and drinks. The 10 bartenders who got us drunk on Friday were the 10 who actually made the prelims.

All of them are already heroes in our eyes because they gave us the key to life! Kidding. They gave us a 5-point step on how to outlast Tequila, which someone should’ve told us before going to the party:

1. Eat before drinking. Unless you wanna pass out faster than you can say ‘pass out,’ you better line your stomach with food.

2. Rest between shots. You have to give your body some time to recuperate. This could mean learning how to fake a shot when it keeps coming. Pro-tip: Spit it out on your chaser.

3. Drink loads of water. Which is also one way of resting between shots.

4. Salt and lime! Sprinkle a small amount of salt on your tongue before taking the shot and suck on lime or lemon after, it makes a huge difference and helps mask the aftertaste of tequila

5. Have Vitamin C in handy. Drinking a tab before going to bed could save you that nasty headache the morning after.
