Vice President Jejomar Binay came out swinging when he delivered his so-called True SONA on Mon, Aug 3, at the Cavite State University Gymnasium in Indang, Cavite. He unleased a lot of harsh words against the administration in 45-minute speech.

Naturally, the administration’s officials had to react.

“In a text message sent to reporters, Presidential Spokesperson Edwin Lacierda said that for the past five years, Binay has been part of the government he now criticizes,” reports Aries Joseph Hegina on Inquirer.net.

Lacierda’s text message read: “Limang taon kang pumapalakpak noon sa mga sinasabi mong palpak ngayon (You clapped for the faults you are exposing now for the past five years).”

For his part, Budget Secretary Florencio “Butch” Abad, whom Binay had referred to as the “budget scam mastermind” for crafting the partly-unconstitutional Disbursement Acceleration Program (DAP), stated, “I did not listen to VP Binay. I hope he was as specific, factual and evidence-based as PNoy’s SONA. I hope he was as uplifting as PNoy was. I hope he inspired hope in the future. If not, I am lucky then to have used my time with work.”
