Sorry, Maria Ozawa fans. Her first movie in the Philippines isn’t going to happen anytime soon.
Robin Padilla pulled out of the movie, choosing to take care of his pregnant wife Mariel Rodriguez. The couple is pregnant with triplets, you see, and so far, it’s been a delicate pregnancy for Mariel.
In a statement he released on Instagram, Robin Padilla explains that “his withdrawal is due to the fact of needing [sic] to attend to his wife Mariel, as she is experiencing a delicate pregnancy. Mariel is currently pregnant with triplets, and also suffered a miscarriage in March of this year. Due to this, Mr. Padilla feels that he needs to focus and prioritize the wellbeing of his family and has decided to forego his role as Tony in the movie Nilalang. The decision to withdraw from the film has been very difficult for Mr. Padilla and VCM team.”
The movie’s producers, meanwhile would rather cancel the movie than not have Binoe in it.
In a statement, the MFT group, which is the co-producer of the film, said, “The MFT Group does not believe that there is a suitable replacement for Mr. Padila and as a result, the prospective timeline for the production of Nilalang will be compromised.”
“The absence of [an] immediate alternative means that the production will be delayed to an extent that Nilalang will not be released in time for the 2015 MMFF.”
All this leaves Maria Ozawa hanging.
On Instagram late Tue evening, the Japanese adult film star called Robin Padilla “unprofessional,” saying “it’s not like I wanted to film with Robin.” Check out her complete post below:
Which leaves us waiting for the Metro Manila Development Authority to issue a statement regarding the matter.
With one film short, which of the two films on reserve will make it? John Lloyd Cruz’s ‘Conman’ or Lovi Poe’s ‘Lakambini’?
Check out Robin’s Instagram post about canceling the movie, and further below, his reply to Maria Ozawa:
