First, congratulations to everybody involved in this project! Single\Single is a first for a lot of things. To begin with, it’s the first TV series of Cinema One.
It’s the first collaboration between the cable channel and newspaper Philippine Star, of all things, “combining the power of cable and print media to talk to Filipino millennials”. And isn’t this also the first time that Matteo Guidicelli and Shaina Magdayao are headling a project?
Short of the long: two single strangers are forced to share a pad for practical reasons. Doesn’t it sound like a recipe for an exciting cable show? Just kidding: It doesn’t sound like a Filipino thing at all, given our conservative nature, but kudos to Philippine Star and Cinema One for trying.
While Cherie Gil’s presence in the show is surely attractive — she plays Matteo’s single mother — it’s the stellar production lineup that has us excited for Single\Single: Pepe Diokno is the director, Palanca awardee Lilit Reyes is the writer, and That Thing Called Tadhana producer Bianca Balbuena also takes on the producer’s role for this.
Single\Single will begin to air on Cinema One on Aug 29 at 8pm.
