Reason for terminal reassignments

The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA)said it has decided to transfer some flights as runway 31 has been reactivated.

“With the reactivation of runway 31, flight movements can now take place concurrently on both runways. Management is hopeful that this will further ease aircraft traffic at the NAIA,” said MIAA general manager Jose Angel Honrado.

Irritated passengers

Some passengers, however, found this confusing.

Vien de Leon, who was bound for Cagayan de Oro, said: “Kasi there are domestic and there are international flights both on the same terminal…siguro they should separate na lang international from domestic para mas hindi confusing din.”

Meanwhile, Angel Lomocoso, an overseas worker from Qatar now headed for Davao, said: “Dapat may information drive muna. Tapos may mga nag-aassist diyan…di ‘yung kami pa magtatanong. Ang gulo.”

Under the new system, domestic flights will be hosted at NAIA 4, while both international and domestic flights will be hosted at NAIA 3.

MIAA spokesperson David de Castro advised passengers who arrive at the wrong terminal to proceed directly to the check-in counters and inform airline personnel.

“They can still check you in, after which they will assist you via a shuttle bus going to the appropriate terminal,” he said.
