Typhoon Ineng exits PH on Mon, Aug 24

Typhoon Ineng (international name: Goni) is expected out of the Philippine Area of Responsibility tomorrow morning, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said in its advisory issued at 5pm on Sun, Aug 23.

Meanwhile, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said the typhoon left 10 individuals dead.

Eight of the fatalities were from Benguet, while the remaining two were from Ilocos Norte and Mt. Province. Majority of the fatalities died due to landslides.

The eight fatalities from Benguet were identified as Markin Celo, Erwin Celo, Michael Felix, Glen Baldasan Poloc, Michael Martin Lagasan, Nova Mae Diaz Tuazon, Nole Galidan Lubante Jr., and Jorie Beliano Catubig.

The two other fatalities were identified as Herminio Taguyo Jr. and Ycher Mayon.

Jay-Ar Mallari of Ilocos Norte, Jubert Bumatay of La Union, and Francis Castro of Cagayan were reported missing.

Seven individuals were also reported injured.

A total of 2,913 families, or 12,862 persons were evacuated in Regions 1, 2, 4-A and in the Cordillera Autonomous Region (CAR). Some 163 homes were damaged in CAR and Regions 1 and 2.
