It seems they have other plans for their long weekend.

“As of 4:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 29, Iglesia ni Cristo protesters were no longer gathered at the EDSA Shrine, instead they were above the EDSA-Shaw underpass,” reported Earl Rosero on GMA News Online.

The report noted: “EDSA traffic was thus flowing smoothly under Shaw Boulevard, with protestesters spending their time watching a live broadcast from church-run Eagle Broadcasting Corporation.”

As of 6:30am on Sat, Aug 29, there were updates yet. That means the INC protesters are still in the EDSA-Shaw area.

INC members had earlier said that they intend to occupy EDSA until Mon, Aug 31. They had started their protest on Thu, Aug 27 in front of the Department of Justice complex in Manila and continued it on Fri, Aug 28 by massing on EDSA. On Sat, Aug 29, it seems that they were making good on their vow to take over EDSA. It remains to be seen if they will be actively dispersed within the day.

However, as the report indicated, “one lane in front of the Megamall was occupied by the vehicles that brought the protesters.” Moreover, “road blocks were set up on the approach to EDSA-Shaw, with all traffic channeled into the underpass.”

The report added that at the said time, “the only police presence in the area was at the police station at the Shaw flyover.”
