Many like to claim that Christmas in the Philippines is the longest in the world. It unofficially starts on Sep 1 — today! — when radio stations begin playing Christmas songs.
It then hits feverish temperatures when Simbang Gabi starts on Dec 16, and continues well past the New Year. In some households, Christmas ends on Three Kings (first Sunday of January), in others, during Black Nazarene. In Tsinoy homes, it unofficially ends on Chinese New Year.
In any case, allow us to ride the tradition and begin the festivities today. Check out and follow our new OPM Christmas playlist on Spotify.
