Marikina mishap: 2 dead, 14 injured after truck crashes into 4 vehicles

Two passengers were killed while 14 others were injured after a 10-wheeler truck plowed through four vehicles in Barangka, Marikina on Wed morning, Sep 2.

Based on initial investigation, the truck with plate number RHW 112 was on A. Bonifacio Avenue when its brakes malfunctioned, causing it to ram a jeepney, two vans, and a motorcycle.

Two jeepney passengers died in the incident. The 14 other victims were rushed to Amang Rodriguez Medical Center and Quirino Memorial Medical Center.

Of the 14 injured, 12 sustained minor injuries and were allowed to leave the hospital. The other two victims, including the truck driver, were admitted to the hospital due to serious injuries.

According to Marikina Mayor Del de Guzman, trucks are not allowed to pass in the area.

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board-National Capital Region (LTFRB-NCR) will also investigate the incident.

Meanwhile, another vehicular accident occured in Barangay Sto. Niño in Rodriguez Avenue past 9 a.m. Seven individuals were hurt after a jeepney collided into a crane. (with reports from Joey Rebate and Henry Atuelan, dzMM)
