If you attended the MaArte Fair on the last weekend of August, you would’ve seen the luggage photographed above on display. It’s by Heart Evangelista, and it’s one of the 12 pieces to be auctioned at The Artist’s Journey Auction.

The Artist’s Journey Auction is a two-part affair featuring 12 artists who painted their artistic journeys on a luggage, which were donated by Rimowa, and which will be up for auction.

The first part will happen at 2pm on Sat, Sep 12 at the Leon Gallery, and it will feature works by Heart Evangelista, Anthony Palomo, Jason Montinola, Martin Honasan, and Ferdie Montimayor. Starting bid? In the ballpark figure of 40,000 to 60,000 pesos. Proceeds will go to the Museum Foundation of the Philippines.

The works of Xian Lim, Max Balatbat, Gus Albor, and the rest will be up for auction come November.

Look at the works up for auction on Sep 12 below:

‘Buenviaje’ by Anthony Palomo. A former member of the Salingpusa art group, Anthony Palomo’s works emphasize the spontaniety and subconscious creation of abstract expressionism with an overlap of analytic and synthetic cubism.

‘Going, Going, Going Home’ by Ferdie Montemayor. Perhaps one of the most prolific artists of our time, Ferdie was cited in 2004’s Metrobank Foundation Awards for Continuing Excellence and Service, in 1995’s Most Outstanding Visual Artist of Antipolo, and finally, in 1994 as one of CCP’s 13 Artist Awardees.

‘Upstream’ by Heart Evangelista. We all know Heart as a celebrity. She turned to art for healing when controversies hounded her a few years ago, and discovered herself to be an effective and creative communicator of various, powerful emotions through oil on canvass.

‘The Reverse’ by Jason Montinola. He’s not called the Master of the subconscious for nothing. Jason reinvents a visual language deeply rooted in the past and then imbibed with the strangeness and familiarity of today.

‘Untitled’ by Martin Honasan. Martin used to be an advertising bigwig until painting became his vocation. He’s had five solo shows since, the most recent of which is 2014’s Singularity at Art Galileia.
