AlDub scores endorsement deal with telco company

After the release of their first TV commercial with McDonald’s, AlDub is officially seeing money rain as it locked in another deal, this time, with mobile phone service Talk ‘N Text.

Smart Communications found a niche as it aimed to address a peculiar need on Eat Bulaga‘s phenomenal Kalyeserye. During the segment, Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza (aka Yaya Dub) only talk by flashing messages and miming love songs.

In real life, Alden and Maine also do not communicate on the phone or on social media.

Based on the record-breaking performance of the segment last Saturday, AlDub may just rewrite Twitter history yet again. A Facebook thread, a text message, a phonecall, or a video call has the potential to rake in just as much ratings as AlDub’s near-meeting.

Before the deal was announced, Alden and Maine even took to social media to post a photo with the hashtag  #ALDUBForTNT.

“Tetext ko na ba siya? Papansinin niya kaya ako?” Alden asked his followers

“Mauuna kaya [siya] magtext? O ako dapat?” Maine said on her account

“Makakatulong kami para mas lalo silang makapag-usap, makapagkuwentuhan, makipagtawagan at makagamit din ng Facebook. Dun namin naisip para mapagpatuloy ang lambingan,” Carlo Endaya, Smart Communications Head of Brand Equity Management, tells GMA Network.

Officials from Smart say they met with the Eat Bulaga team and revamped their storyboard to accommodate how AlDub’s love story is being told. Kalyeserye is unscripted, and mostly impromptu.

Are you ready for AlDub’s first phone conversation? We can’t wait!
