Eat Bulaga! has been eating It’s Showtime for lunch, especially in Mega Manila. EB, bolstered by the influence of the accidental love team of AlDub, has been reaching unimaginable ratings and online buzz for a noontime show.
It’s really only a matter of time before It’s Showtime launched an offensive, and this week, we’re willing to bet it might be in the form of Pastillas Girl.
Tagged as the new darling of Twitter, Angeline Yap or Pastillas Girl shot to fame after releasing a video tutorial about making the famous Pinoy dessert. The spiel contained double meaning as her ex-boyfriend fell in love with her best friend.
On Monday, Sep 14, Angeline made a guest appearance on It’s Showtime and was thrust into the segment called “Madam Bertud”. In it, Vice Ganda gives advice to people on various issues. Pastillas Girl, for her part, wanted to know the best time to fall in love again.
Aside from some guidance, the hosts of It’s Showtime also vowed to help Angeline find a new flame. One member of the audience and one Twitter user volunteered.
Like EB‘s Kalyeserye, the segment is also unscripted and has been making noise on social media.
Though the “Pastillas Saga” has yet to gain as much ground as AlDub, ABS-CBN’s people seem like they are already making ways to catch up with AlDub. In a report from Abante, Kapamilya executives reportedly consider AlDub as “sakit ng ulo”.
“Kuwento sa akin, isang executive sa Kapamilya Network ang nagsabi raw na sumasakit na ang ulo niya sa epekto ng AlDub. Hindi na ipinaliwanag ng executive sa aming source kung ano ang tinutukoy nitong ‘pagsakit’ ng ulo niya,” Rey Pumaloy wrote in his article.
In an episode, Vice Ganda even gave away some pastillas to the studio audience, saying “Pastillas, pantanggal ng umay lalo na kung galing ka ng traffic. Naumay ka sa traffic sa pag-aantay. Nakakaumay ang pag-aantay sa traffic.”
