What’s worse than getting caught? Getting caught on camera and then having the photo posted on Facebook.
It doesn’t help that the man in the photo was said to have reported for work at around noon.
“A photo of Alejandro San Juan — who heads the assessment division of Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) District Office 43-B in Pasig — showing him taking a nap after arriving at the office in time for lunch became viral after it was posted by Marge Caparas on the wall of the Facebook community page, “Kaya ‘Di Umuunlad Pilipinas (That’s Why the Philippines Never Prospers),'” reports Prinz Magtulis in The Philippine Star.
Apart from getting thousands of comments in record time, the photo also got the attention of presidential spokesperson Edwin Lacierda. It was Lacierda who then alerter BIR chief Kim Henares about the matter.
In a phone interview on Wed, Sep 16, Henares revealed, “The Quezon City regional office is undertaking an investigation on the matter. In one sense, this is very frustrating, but we must give the person due process.”
Henares explained that “San Juan continues to be on duty since there is no basis for him to be issued a preventive suspension order.” She then asked the public to wait for the outcome of the investigation.
San Juan has not made any statement about his photo.
For her part, Caparas “thanked the BIR for responding swiftly to her complaint.”
