Some people don’t deserve to be parents.
“A 10-month-old baby died after she was stabbed 13 times by her mother, who was allegedly high on illegal drugs, in Barangay Payatas, Quezon City,” reports Robertzon Ramirez in The Philippine Star.
The incident happened on Fri, Sep 19.
Neighbors said that Piavera Sarmiento got home at around 5:30pm and they then heard her shouting and cursing. They didn’t know that Piavera “had gotten hold of a bread knife to stab Aira, her seventh child, 11 times in the abdomen and twice in the lower back.”
Witnesses later confirmed that Piavera was known to be a drug addict. As such, investigators said she may have been hallucinating about fighting with a neighbor.
Minutes after she killed her daughter, Piavera ran out of their house carrying the baby’s body. She asked her neighbors to help bring the baby to the nearest hospital.
As they waited for an ambulance from the barangay hall, Piavera reportedly admitted that she stabbed her daughter but was not aware at the time of what she did.
However, when she was later interviewed, Piavera changed her story. She claimed that when she got home, her daughter was already wounded.
Piavera’s husband was out gathering scraps and recyclable materials when the murder happened.
Piavera is temporarily detained at the Quezon City Police District’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit. She will be charged with parricide.
