Senator Antonio Trillanes IV on Sat, Oct 3, formally declared his vice presidential bid for the 2016 elections.

Trillanes made the announcement during the convention of the Magdalo Group at the Amoranto Sports Complex in Quezon City.

The senator said the nomination from Magdalo is not only a personal challenge, but is also a challenge for the group to be able to extend its services on a national scale.

The group also expressed its support for the presidential bid of Senator Grace Poe. Poe’s son, Brian Poe Llamanzares, personally thanked the group for their support.

Trillanes is the second member of the Nacionalista Party (NP) to announce his plan of seeking the country’s second top post in next year’s elections.

Senator Alan Peter Cayetano, also from NP, on Tuesday also declared that he will run for vice president in 2016. Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. is also rumored to announce his vice presidential bid soon.

Senator Cynthia Villar, wife of NP leader and former Senator Manny Villar, has said the party will equally support all of them in terms of funding. (from a report by Jay Ruiz, ABS-CBN News)
