The country’s longest-running art fair is back early this month with Jonathan Olazo as overall curator. The theme for the 7th edition of the NCCA-funded event is “Raising the Filipino Colors on the World Stage.”

Expect a bigger, bolder and more exciting fair with 30-plus galleries (including two from overseas participating for the first time), and breathtaking lounge and reception areas by production designer Bonifacio Juan.

Here are what’s new at the 2015 ManilArt Fair:

• PETA production designer Bonifacio Juan will design the fair’s lounge and reception areas

• International galleries Art Prime Contemporary and Bruno Gallery of the Bruno Art Group, both from Singapore, to join for the first time

• Philippine galleries making their ManilArt debut are 1335 Mabini, Artologist, CMG Gallerie, Art Galilea and Art For Space

• Curator Patrick Flores to revisit preparations leading to “Tie A Strong Around The World,” the exhibition at the Philippine Paviliion in the ongoing 56th Venice Biennale

• Architect, artist and educator Gerry Torres to helm free walking tours at 1:30pm and 4pm

• Metrobank Lecture Series tackles a wide range of topics like “Is the registration of privately owned artworks a mere option, or a national obligation?”

ManilArt 2015 is from Oct 8-11 at SMX Convention Center of SM Aura Premier in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig. For more details, visit www.manilart.com or check out ManilArt’s Facebook page.
