Did Sen. Bongbong Marcos just hint of Duterte’s plans?

We swear, it’s little things like this that make Davao Mayor Rodrigo Duterte’s repeated claims about not running for President unconvincing.

Rereading Sen. Bongbong Marcos’ declaration of his plans to run for the vice president position, we couldn’t help but fixate on that part about Davao Mayor Duterte: “I too will support Mayor Duterte if and when he runs for President.”

For good measure, below is a closer look at the part of the message.

Like Marcos, several other politicians are also courting Duterte to be their President, chief of whom is Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano.

After announcing his candidacy for vice president, Cayetano along with his sister Sen. Pia Cayetano, also met with Duterte in Davao last week. And while that meeting still failed to convince to change Duterte’s mind — for the time being, at least — it seemed to have softened Duterte’s resolve not to run for President.

“Duterte has repeatedly said that he would not run as president but said that if he changed his mind and decides to run for President, he would pick Cayetano to be his running mate,” reports Nestor Corrales on Inquirer.net.

When asked by reporters to compare Cayetano with other vice president candidates, Duterte said, “wala, wipe out na yan sila lahat sa kanya.”

That bit about picking Cayetano should he change his mind, that already is a big change from his previous N-O. Guess we only really have to wait until next week to see if Duterte truly had a change of heart. Filing of candidacy begins Oct 12!
