What an honor.

“The office of the United Nations Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon, following consultations with Chairs of Regional Groups, informed the General Assembly on October 5, Monday (early Tuesday, October 6, Philippine time) of his intention to appoint Heidi Mendoza of the Philippines as the new Under-Secretary-General for Internal Oversight Services for a five-year non-renewable term,” reports InterAksyon.com.

It may be recalled that Mendoza exposed the corrupt practices of former military comptroller Maj. Gen. Carlos Garcia.

The report noted: “As a certified public accountant, Mendoza has over 20 years of service in government. She is currently Commissioner of the Commission of Audit of the Philippines (since 2011), is serving notably as Chairperson of Audit Committee on Public Sector Auditing Standards Board, and External Auditor for the Food and Agriculture Organization, World Health Organization and International Labour Organization.”
