Passenger bus held hostage on Taft Avenue

On Thursday afternoon, Oct 8, an unidentified man seized a southbound HM Transport bus on Taft Avenue. According to radio reports, he held a woman passenger hostage.

According to Inquirer.net, the assailant was armed with a knife.

“But the hostage-taking incident took all of 30 minutes after the unidentified assailant…was injured and declared dead on arrival at the Philippine General Hospital (PGH) where he was rushed,” reports Isabel Doria RJ Regis on newscentral.ph.

The man appeared to have been shot. “The circumstances that led to the death of the hostage-taker weren’t clear except that three consecutive gunshots were heard, as responding Manila police arrived on the scene,” continues the report.
