ABS-CBN couldn’t wait for its Oct 13 meeting with the MTRCB and decided to take a hit on Gabriela.

After the Women’s Party called out ABS-CBN and said it was pimping Angelica Yap aka Pastillas Girl on It’s Showtime, the giant network responds saying the allegation is not only “unfair and irresponsible, it is also hurtful and offensive to women like Angelica.”

“The intent of the show is to help Angelica in her journey to love and acceptance recovering from a failed relationship,” it said in a statement.

What more, the program maintains the segment reflects values such as “forgiveness, honesty, and being open to possibilities.”

It pointed to the Sep 19 episode, when Pastillas Girl reconciled with her ex-boyfriend Enzo, and the Sep 25 episode when she made peace with her friend Karen, who is now Enzo’s girlfriend.

“The program went on by saying that it never forced Yap to do anything without her full consent, noting that the latter has the freedom of choice ‘to do and reveal what she wants’,” notes Philippine Daily Inquirer.

Besides, It’s Showtime said, the program is actually protecting Yap by screening her admirers before allowing them to appear on the show.

Whatever, all we know is that the “kalyeserye” on Eat Bulaga! was eating ABS-CBN’s It’s Showtime! alive, it had to do something. After Ryan Remz flopped, they found Pastillas Girl on the Internet, and soon the network war began.
