Not happening: Kris Aquino’s MMFF movie with Herbert Bautista

What’s with the high mortality rate in this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival?

The latest drop out from the MMFF lineup is Kris Aquino, who begged off from All you Need is Pag-ibig, her supposed movie with ex-bufra Herbert Bautista.

The queen of all media posted on Instagram, tagging Star Cinema’s head honcho Malou Santos, the movie’s director Antoinette Jadaone, and its creative writer Kriz Gazmen.

She called herself a jerk and then apologized “for the stress I put you through, the many wasted hours working on the project, and all the effort you exerted. I was wrong to commit to something that in all honesty, I am emotionally, physically, mentally not ready for.”

Apparently, it wasn’t so much her insecurities, which she said were laid bare in the movie, that did it. It was the absence of her chosen cinematographer, Neil Daza.

In May, Kris excitedly announced on the project on Instagram, complete with hashtags like #leapoffaith and #onceinalifetime.

Well, it looks like it’s the MMDA that will need to take a leap of faith. This year’s MMFF has had a string of dropouts as early as June. There was Robin Padilla famously backing out of his movie with Maria Ozawa, followed by JM de Guzman being replaced with Jericho in the romcom with Jennylyn Mercado. Ah, MMDA Francis Tolentino resigned too, so he won’t be there as well, and then this.
