Miriam to run for President

Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago made the announcement that she is running for President during a book-signing for her book, Stupid is Forevermore, at National Book Store in Glorietta. This was the feisty senator’s first public appearance since March.

Santiago joins other presidential hopefuls Vice President Jejomar Binay, former Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Mar Roxas, Sen. Grace Poe, among others.

Santiago ran for President in 1992 but lost to Fidel Ramos.

Last Oct 7, Santiago created some buzz when she posted a photo on her official Facebook account bearing the message: “I’m not going to be coy. Society leaders have urged me to seek the presidency. I can rise to the occasion.”

Earlier, we asked if Santiago wouldbuck tradition and make an important announcement at the meet-and-greet. Looks like we have our answer now.
