As Eat Bulaga! broke Twitter records with its “Tamang Panahon” concert Saturday, ABS-CBN’s It’s Showtime quietly celebrated its sixth anniversary by admitting defeat.
“Hindi namin kaya talunin ang Eat Bulaga!,” Vice Ganda said yesterday, narrating how It’s Showtime went from being a talent program in the morning to becoming the only other contender of veterans Eat Bulaga! in the noontime slot.
Flanked by his co-stars, Vice continued: “Gusto namin morning show lang. Ilalagay niyo kami sa noontime, eh hindi naman namin kaya talunin ang Eat Bulaga! Kahit pagsama-samahin naming ang powers namin, magtitiwarik ako dito, hindi naming kaya talunin ang Eat Bulaga!”
He said that from the very beginning, it was never a competition. The objective of It’s Showtime, he explained further, was to add to the joy that Eat Bulaga! was already bringing to the lunchtime TV crowd.
“Itinataas naming ang bandera dahil sila ay aming mga idolo at modelo,” Vice added.
