As we all know, Metro Manila will be hosting this year’s Asia-Pacific Economic Conference (APEC) Economic Leaders Meeting (AELM) on Nov 18 & 19.

Starting Nov 16, state leaders and dignitaries, including US President Barack Obama, will be flying in, so everybody is on red alert.

Cebu Pacific has already cancelled a total of 260 flights, while PAL awaits the announcement of government regarding APEC’s official schedule.

That said, motorists will definitely be affected by this grand meeting of VVVVVIPs. APEC has just issued its road advisory from Nov 16-20. We’ve summarized it for you below:

Special lanes:

Nov 16- 20, EDSA: The innermost lanes are deemed APEC lanes, which can only be used by APEC vehicles. So private cars and motorcycles will be sharing the outer lanes with the buses. Don’t forget to keep your cool.

Nov 16-20, Roxas Boulevard: The entire southbound lane of Roxas boulevard will be closed to regular vehicles. The northbound lane meanwhile, will be converted into a two-way avenue for non-APEC vehicles. All of Roxas Boulevard will impose a truck ban on these dates.

Road closures:

Nov 16-20, CCP Complex. Five roads in the CCP Complex will be closed. They are: J.W. Diokno Boulevard Bridge, M. Jalandoni Street, Buendia Avenue, Vincente Sotto Street, Bukaneg Street.

Nov 18, SM Mall of Asia Arena Complex: Six roads around the SM MOA Arena will be closed: Coral Way corner Seaside Boulevard, Diokno corner Aseana, Macapagal corner Bradco, Macapagal corner Coral Way, EDSA Corner Macapagal, and Diokno corner Seaside Boulevard. Basically, avoid MOA on Nov 18.

A note on trucks for Nov 16-20:

Trucks will be deemed nocturnal during APEC season. They can only ply the road from 10pm to 6am on the given week. As mentioned, no trucks will not be allowed along Roxas Boulevard from Nov 16-20. There will also be a daytime ban on trucks at the South Truck Route.

There will also be a stop-and-go scheme from Nov 15-20:
