Is he the future (alabaster) face of Philippine politics?
The son of celebrity-turned-politician Vilma Santos with husband Ralph Recto held the Club Filipino crowd in rapt attention yesterday when he campaigned for his father during the senatorial lineup announcement of the Partido ng Galing at Puso, the party coaltion with Grace Poe and Chiz Escudero as top candidates.
Ryan Christian Recto — aka Luis Manzano’s half-brother — was stepping in for his father who couldn’t make it to the event. He talked about his father’s achievements as a politician and the things that the senator would like to focus on if re-elected as senator.
The boy’s sure got public speaking down pat — he was confident, enunciated every word and knew how to use his hands to emphasize a point. His speech, mostly in English, captivated the audience. Or was it his perfect complexion they were focusing on?
A video clip of his speech has been posted to Facebook and one wise netizen was more than willing to share his fearless forecast for the 19 year old: “May future ha and may fez.”
