Anonymous Philippines hacked Maine ‘Yaya Dub’ Mendoza’s Twitter account

Did they want to trend something?

On Monday night, Anonymous Philippines hacked Maine ‘Yaya Dub’ Mendoza’s Twitter account. It left a total of four tweets, making today’s Eat Bulaga! hashtag, #AlDubTheVisitor rather fitting.

It first left a photo message with the hashtags #AnonPH, #Anonymous, #MillionMaskMarch #MMM2k15, and quickly followed it up with an apology.

“Sorry po if napadaan kami sa account ni yayadub, ibabalik din naming to sa tunay na may-ari,” the group wrote.

We checked out the #MillionMaskMarch hash and it looks like Anonymous Philippines is joining the world wide protest of Anonymous scheduled on Nov 5.

With protests happening in over 600 city halls across the globe, the group has dubbed it as the “World’s Largest Protest by the Most Influential Group in the World.”

Because they used Maine Mendoza’s account — the third fastest growing celebrity on Twitter, if we may point out — we’re thinking Anonymous Philippines wants their bonfire to trend. Or at least get as many people as possible to talk about their party.

Anonymous Philippines is a group of righteous Filipino hackers who have been trying to do a Mr. Robot. That is, expose corruption and protest oppression.

They came into popularity in 2012 when they hacked several government websites, a stunt that the group has since repeated over and over again. In September this year, Anonymous Philippines hacked into the NTC website because of…slow internet.

They sound like bad boys we’d like to go out on a date with.

Anyway, early on Tuesday morning, Maine has yet to tweet any information regarding her account. We’ll keep you posted regarding the matter.
