We’re featuring them as a commentary on how much this laglag bala controversy has affected almost every aspect of our traveling lives. When you mention the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) these days, one immediately thinks, “Bullets!”
As more and more paranoid travelers have taken to wrapping their luggage in what would seem like yards of plastic, at least one company was inspired to turn a humiliating issue into a business opportunity.
Suit up Philippines, which sells luggage covers, is offering a more stylish alternative to the plastic wrap in the fight against the laglag bala or bullet scam that’s currently plaguing the NAIA and, in effect, the whole country. Now, we don’t know if this really helps defuse the tension, but, hey, at least your luggage can look a bit cheerful amid these bullet-riddled times.
Another company that’s been around since March 2014, Wanderskye, who also worked with us in our 2015 Reader Survey giveaways, offers the same service but with fancier designs that can both rolling luggage and backpacks.
In case you’re interested, these two companies also offer personalization services. If you want to say something…er…more forceful to whoever is behind these laglag bala shenanigans, you can.
Wanderskye can print it for you within five days. According to co-owner Bianca Sevilla, the zippers on their luggage covers are located on the bottom so it’s not easy to remove.
