Viral: Japanese TV show re-enacts ‘laglag bala’ scam

Got a tip? Send it to us at manila@coconuts.co.

The laglag bala scam has reached Japan’s shores.

This video shared on Facebook by Shinjoy Martinez shows a Japanese television program reenacting how bullets are planted into the luggage of unsuspecting passengers — officials scan the bag, police detect a bullet and later extort the passenger.

The show also showed this photo of two backpackers at NAIA seen with their bags wrapped in plastic.

A Coconuts Manila friend translated the video for us and she says the young man in navy blue suit explains in Japanese that the laglag bala scam has been happening over the years and many Japanese tourists have beome victims.

That’s something we can’t deny. On October 25, a Japanese tourist was charged with illegal possession of ammunition after two bullets were found inside the pocket of his long-sleeved shirt.

Nakakahiya n tlga ang bansang pilipinas balitang balita n pati dto sa japan ang isyu ng laglag bala n yan.tlagang iminuwestra pa kung paano ang ginagawang pambbiktima sa loob ng airport.
