Bury the ugly memory from just this June and send Trixie Maristela all your well wishes! The Filipino 29-year-old Filipino transwoman was just crowned Miss International Queen.

Miss International Queen, said to be the largest and most prestigious transgender beauty pageant in the world, was held at Pattaya, Thailand this year.

Maristela bested 25 other beauties from all over the world. Brazil won second place, while Thailand won third.

According to Manila Bulletin, Maristela is “the second Filipino to win the well-regarded competition after Kevin Balot got the crown in 2012.”

“This is the most prestigious pageant for transwomen everywhere, and there were a lot of great candidates from different countries this year. I just feel blessed to have won this year’s crown,” Maristela tells Bulletin.

On Facebook, she writes, “The path I walk is not mine alone. It’s an amazing journey and I wouldn’t be here without all of you. This is our crown. As I walk the stage as I spoke and as I smiled, your support has been my strength the whole time. All I want really is to show what transwomen are made of, what FILIPINOS are made of: a strong fighting spirit and a good soul. We are a people of golden hearts, and we wear our crowns with pride everyday. I love you all. Pilipinas, MARAMING SALAMAT PO.”

Miss International Queen is an annual competition that has been going on since 2004.

You go girl!
