They’re classy gifts, that’s for sure.

“Renowned Filipino designer Kenneth Cobonpue recently unveiled the special gifts to be handed out to the world leaders attending the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit,” reports Ces Dimalanta in Manila Bulletin.

Cobonpue calls the limited edition sculptures, “sama-sama,” which means “together” in Pilipino. They will be given as tokens at the welcome dinner on Nov 18 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

“The design offers a visual narrative of the APEC community’s partnership. When viewed close up, the brass sculpture can be seen containing groups of people holding on to each other in the shape of Asia-Pacific islands, finished in shades of yellow gold, pale silver, and warm copper which represents the races,” the report describes.

The limited-edition sculptures will be enclosed in glass and placed in hand-woven “buri,” or palm spine cases, with brass handles.
