The Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit seems to have sent the government into a frenzy, as leaders from all over the world are expected to attend the event. We wish they showed this much care for Pinoys.

“The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) on Friday, Novemver 13, announced that it is set to implement a ‘No-Sail Zone Policy’ during APEC Week,” reports Azer N. Parrocha for the Philippine News Agency.

The report noted: “Under its Contingency Plan, the task group has declared an ‘exclusion zone’ which covers two nautical miles from the shoreline going seaward from Pasig River to the stretch of Parañaque City. The ‘No-Sail Zone Policy’ will meanwhile be implemented within 30 yards from the shoreline going seaward also at the said vicinity.”

Aside from that, the report said that the Pasig River will be “under heightened alert,” as enforcers will be “on the look-out for critical infrastructures such as bridges as well as informal settlers dwelling within the area.”

Well, all we can say is we find that last line kind of disturbing.
