You really can’t make these things up.

Cagayan de Oro City resident Briza Ann Rapal was supposed to receive an iPhone 6 Plus from her cousin in the United States.

Upon opening the package in front of the Philippine Postal Corporation postman, she found two boxes of baking soda instead of the mobile phone — which was worth USD$800 (PHP40,000).

The markings on the box indicated that the baking soda is made in the Philippines. Naturally, Rapal wants an investigation on the case.

“According to the postmaster in Cagayan de Oro, they do not know anything about the lost package, as they are the ones who check if the package is tampered before it is delivered to the post office,” reports ABS-CBNnews.com.

The report noted that “before reaching the post office in Cagayan de Oro, the package went through the Express Mail Exchange Department of the Philippine Postal Corporation in Pasay City.”

That’s where all packages and letters are scanned, before they are sent to post offices in other provinces. The post office is waiting for a formal complaint from Rapal before they start an investigation.

From a report by Shiela Joy Labrador, ABS-CBN News Northern Mindanao.
