We don’t know what “pakikiramay” is in French, but this gesture already speaks volumes.

“As the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France goes dark as a sign of mourning for the 129 lives lost in the extremist attacks last week, various landmarks around the world — including the Rizal Monument at Rizal Park — lit up in blue, white, and red in solidarity with the affected the country,” reports Ces Dimalanta in Manila Bulletin.

The Rizal Monument was lit with colors of the French flag on Tue evening, Nov 17.

The photo of the lit up monument was posted on the Facebook page of The Philippines, which is managed by the Department of Tourism (DOT).  A quote from President Benigno S. Aquino III also accompanied the photo: “We stand with France now, in the firm belief that the light must never dim in Paris.”
