Now, this is an effective measure against laglag bala incidents.

“Government lawyers have been taking shifts in manning the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) during the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit as the Department of Justice (DOJ) ordered a 24-hour duty for prosecutors to ensure immediate resolutions of airport-related complaints,” reports Leonard Postrado in Manila Bulletin.

Apparently, Prosecutor General Claro Arellano issued  Office Order No. 1796, which assigned prosecutors to be on-duty beginning midnight of Nov 17. Each batch of prosecutors are on eight-hour shifts.

The report noted: “On Nov 19, the duty prosecutors will be Assistant State Prosecutors  Michael Vito Cruz, Prosecuting Attorney Ma. Richelle Oliva and Assistant State Prosecutor Hjarmar Quintana. Then, on Nov 20, duty prosecutors are Assistant State Prosecutors Alexander Suarez, Florencio Dela Cruz and Brian Jacinto Cacha.”

Arellano explained that “disciplinary action will be taken against any of the prosecutors who will fail to heed the order.”
