With world leaders and other foreign delegates beginning their exodus out of the country after the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders Meeting, Philippine National Police (PNP) has told the public to expect monstrous traffic jams on Fri, Nov 20.

The PNP, through spokesman Chief Supt. Wilben Mayor, has already issued an apology for another Carmaggedon, saying, “Please be reminded that economic leaders are moving now. Some of them are in convoys and there’s this policy of lockdown of the roads and there should be no movement there because of the security protocols.”

“It was recalled that the government has been at the receiving end of harsh criticisms from both the netizens and some politicians due to the traffic jams created by lockdown policy on Monday, November 16, before the formal start of the APEC meetings,” reports Aaron B. Recuenco in Manila Bulletin.

The report noted: “Authorities immediately apologized but emphasized that they have long warned of such scenario due to the intensified security measures which was further strengthened to due to the Paris attacks that left more than 120 people dead.”

Mayor explained: “There will still be some lockdowns tomorrow (Friday) as there are economic leaders who are expected to leave. Our forces are already on the ground to make sure that it will be implemented.”

The lockdown will lifted as soon as the last economic leader leaves, which is around 3pm to 4pm.

Some of the world leaders have started to leave the country early Thu, Nov 19. The first one who left was the president of Colombia.
